Life in Harmony Project

Life In Harmony Image 320x640A Pregnant Woman is 3 times More Likely to Experience Domestic Abuse.

Not every pregnant woman feels safe, respected or supported.  Many experience bullying, mind games and hurtful behaviour from their partner or ex-partner and his family that makes them feel afraid, insecure and confused.

A lot of women are pushed, punched, kicked and badly hurt when they become pregnant.  Many women are told they are fat, useless and a bad mother.  Others have been told things will improve once their baby is born, but then find they aren't allowed to bond properly with their baby or have to cope without any help.

HOMETRUTHS has been successfully awarded funding by The Esmee Fairbairn Foundation for 3 years, to develop specialist support for pregnant women and women with children under 18 months old living in Swindon and North Wiltshire.

We provide confidential support for pregnant women and new mums who may be afraid to speak out about the way they are being treated, who are scared their baby may be taken away or who are uncertain whether they are experiencing domestic abuse but feel concerned for their own safety or the safety of their child because of the way their partner or ex-partner is treating them.

If you would like to speak to someone in confidence please ring or email us.

We welcome referrals from health professionals including GPs, Midwives & Health Visitors and Nursery workers, School Teachers, Children's Centres and anyone else working with a pregnant woman or a new mum who is experiencing domestic abuse.
