STALKING - S.O.S Project

stalkingS.O.S is a project developed by HOMETRUTHS and the initial pilot was funded by the Wiltshire Police Authority in 2012. It is a specialist service for women and girls aged 16+ who experience stalking and harassment from partners, ex-partners, one-time dates or persistent males pursuing a relationship that is unwanted.

Stalking & Harassment is any repeated behaviour that is unwanted, causing the victim anxiety, distress and fear of violence.

After the age of 16 stalking affects around 1 in 5 women.

From November 2012 Stalking became a specific criminal offence for the first time within the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 in England & Wales.

S.O.S works directly with women and girls experiencing stalking & harassment from partners or ex-partners: to help them stay safe; to understand the options available to them through

criminal & civil courts; to help them engage with the police and other professionals as

necessary and to provide long-term support until the victim feels safe again.

“S.O.S has been a life-line, the reassurance that it is really happening and the support and help to deal with it has given me and my children our lives back.”
